Dimethyl sulfoxide is an organic compound that is used as a solvent for various applications. In the nutritional world, Dimethyl sulfoxide can be used topically to help with burns, wounds, and inflammation.
DMSO works by binding with free radicals, compounds that cause inflammation, to reduce the inflammatory response at the site of application. Reduce symptoms of inflammation with DMSO!

Dimethyl Sulfoxide is also known as Dimethyl Sulfoxidum or Dimethyl Sulphoxide. A powerful solvent, DMSO has been used commercially since the 1950s, and by the 1960s DMSO found use as a pharmaceutical.
Q: Why is my DMSO crystallized?
A: DMSO is a very temperature-sensitive product. Liquid DMSO can and will crystallise around 18 degrees, which does not affect it, btw. Often, DMSO is delivered in this state. If this occurs, place or keep the DMSO bottle in a warm location, 20°C+, and within a few hours it should go back to liquid form. For faster results, place the bottle in a clean zip-lock bag, seal it, and place it in warm water.
Under any circumstances, do not microwave it!
Q: Is your DMSO packaged in?
A: All of our DMSO is packaged in Recyclable Glass Bottles, or Glass Jars. While it is more expensive to package in glass than plastic, many customers prefer glass packaging, as the glass cannot taint the DMSO. Glass is also more environmentally friendly than plastic.
Q: My DMSO arrived frozen. How do I safely thaw it out?
A: Very pure DMSO that is undiluted with water freezes at temperatures below 17.8 deg C. It is common in winter time for the DMSO to freeze during transport. In fact because of our warehouse location in Mount Barker Springs Adelaide Hills, this product sits on our shelf ready for order packing in a frozen state, see here
Q: How to use DMSO Liquid safely and effectively?
A: 1. Clean the Application Area Thoroughly
- Why: DMSO penetrates the skin deeply and can carry any surface contaminants (dirt, bacteria, chemicals) into your bloodstream.
- How: Wash the skin with mild soap and warm water. Rinse well and dry completely.
2. Use Medical Gloves (Optional but Recommended)
- If applying with hands, make sure your hands are extremely clean. Avoid using dirty or scented gloves.
3. Apply a Small Amount
- Pour a small amount onto a clean cotton pad, gauze, or your fingertips.
- Gently apply to the target area (e.g. joint, muscle).
4. Do Not Rub Aggressively
- Just smooth it over the skin—DMSO is absorbed quickly.
- Do not use with lotions or creams unless confirmed safe.
5. Let It Dry Naturally
- Allow the area to air-dry for 20–30 minutes.
- Avoid contact with fabrics or chemicals while it's absorbing.

Dosage & Frequency
- Frequency: 1–3 times per day, depending on use case.
- Area Size: Use on small areas first to test sensitivity.
Please follow these instructions to thaw your DMSO quickly -
Place Container of DMSO in Hot (NOT boiling) tap water.
To avoid ruining the label place in a zip bag so no water touches it
Do not heat the DMSO above 44 deg C.
After a few hours You will start to see the DMSO turn back into a liquid.
DO NOT MICROWAVE THE DMSO CONTAINER!
An alternative method, if you are in no hurry. is just to store the bottle at a temperature above 20 deg C, & it will eventually thaw on its own (this method can take several days).
To prevent your DMSO from re-freezing, store in a warm place away from direct sunlight. The addition of a small amount of distilled or demineralised water will also lower the freezing point.
Q: If your DMSO is pharmaceutical grade, why do you state that the product is intended for use as a solvent only?
A: In order to comply with Australian regulations, we do not, & can not by law, make any claims or recommendations regarding the therapeutic use of this product. The regulations in Australia mean we can sell the product as a solvent only. What the end user chooses to do with the product after purchase is up to themselves. We also recommend that any treatment is done in consultation with a licensed medical practitioner. Q: What is DMSO?
A: Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is a chemical compound which is a by-product of wood processing. It has long been used as a chemical solvent. In the late 1960s, it also became popular as a topical pain relief medication for pulled, strained, and sprained muscles and joints. This product is very pure & concentrated. You may dilute this product with distilled, demineralised or clean filtered water.
