The "DMSO Odor": Within minutes of applying it to your skin, you will likely notice a strong garlic or oyster-like taste in your mouth and an identical smell on your breath. This is completely normal; it is caused by the body metabolising DMSO into dimethyl sulfide, which is then exhaled through the lungs.
